Projects
The Make it Better Project
Distance Learning was difficult. It was difficult for students, but also for teachers and parents. A fellow teacher and I were looking for a way to make distance learning better. We wanted the students to understand we were all going through this, it wasn't just them. So we created a social-awareness project to create a documentary, filmed via Zoom, on ways we can all make it better. This was their work.
Wolves of Yellowstone
This cross-curriculum project tried to answer the question: "Can wolves change the course of rivers?" This Understanding by Design project allowed students to create models, analyze data, make inferences, and think critically about the role of apex predators in an ecosystem.
Eliot Recruitment Video
A promotional video I made with a Co-Teacher highlighting our school for the Open Enrollment period. My marketing background allowed us to create a unique video, far beyond what any other schools were doing.
I use these same marketing skills to create memorable projects for my students.
3D Printing
Every year, 3rd graders design and print a Holiday decoration. Students learn about 3D printing and the engineering design process to complete the project.
Infographics
Students complete an Infographic to show what they have learned. Students are able to better retain information by completing this authentic assessment.
Game Design
Students design a game, starting with the idea and ending with the coding. Games are designed to help kindergartners learn something.
AR Sandbox
I created an AR Sandbox for our Makerspace. I would love to combine this with Computer Science to create our own augmented reality learning games.
